Well knock me down with a feather… In just six months, ‘SSRI’ has garnered over 10,000 views… :O I’m really blown away by that, so I thought a wee bonus post was in order. I do all kinds of creative things beyond just webcomics, some of which are very public, like my printed comics, and some of which are rather more private.
Back in 2009, I was making a transition from painter to comic book artist: I never really cracked oils (never took enough time, to be honest, and it’s something I aim to return to soon…) but just before I dropped it completely, I started working through some stuff, which would later resurface in this very blog.
Raised a Catholic, I had to de-condition myself from it as a teenager when I began to realise that it was causing me major pain – religion and sexuality just didn’t mix for me in any shape or form. So among other images, I painted this, ‘INRI – I Never Really Identified’, with an intensely creepy Jesus on the cross. Make of it what you will…
I’ve also been playing guitar and writing songs for the better part of fifteen years, but my acute social anxiety means that very few people have ever heard them. A more recent one on the same subject as above is this, ‘Do Damage’:
Excuse the couple of bum notes and my voice being a lot higher in the mix than the guitar but shyeah, it’s recorded on my tablet, so it’s no’ bad all in.
