5 - Admission

6 - Admission7 - Admission8 - Admission9 - Admission10 - AdmissionPlease don’t call the p’lice. I’m not a knife wielding murderer, honest. It’s a visual metaphor!

This is literally to most honest thing I’ve ever drawn or posted in my life, the deepest I’ve ever gone, and potentially the most self pitying I’ve ever been in public but fuck it, it needed to come out. All you cool and groovy straight guys I know, don’t think this in any way diminishes your importance to me – I’m talking about groups, that’s when I feel it most. The social structures of heterosexuality, that kind of thing. The same doesn’t apply in more structured groups either, by the way.

And if you’re at all unsure of what all this means, or want to know, I’m totally down with you leaving a comment, tweeting, FB’ing or ‘ask’ing me depending on what method of social transportation you’re using to read this 🙂

Still playing with panel structures, so here’s a wee 4 panel strip. Which is a strange format to use for such a subtle and dense allusion…

We’re obviously talking libido here, which is something that SSRIs are known to affect. The funny thing is, when I started on the anti-Ds, my libido shot through the roof, so I was like, wey-hey! But then it kind of went again… Now it sort of comes and goes…

It’s the kind of thing that gets talked about even less, but anxiety and depression can have a terrible effect on sex drive. Libido is such a basic force that when affected can have a spiralling impact on mental health.

However, I live in hope that sorting my head out in general will have a positive result on these other areas of my life too 🙂

Bit saucy, this one  (#^.^#)

However, catholic guilt’s a bit of a bugbear for me. I’m largely over the damage done to me by my Catholic upbringing, but I think it’s important as an ex-Catholic to try and spread the word of Reason, the same way Catholics often think it’s their duty to spread their word…

I can think of few things more psychologically damaging to a growing kid than thinking there’s an all-seeing, all-powerful eye of some desert deity watching their every movement and every thought. It’s the idea of the Panopticon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopticon) writ large. Bentham, designer of the Panopticon, said it offered “a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example”. Well I disagree – I think religion got there long before Bentham did…

Anyway, I think it’s damning that anyone – religion, state, individual – would try to control the personal sex life of another. Mind control that makes you feel guilty about something that causes no harm, only pleasure and connection, either to oneself or to another, is just plain wrong – but is a great way to make sure you have a malleable throng. You can make them feel guilty about it, then sell them either absolution, or guilt free sublimated sexuality in the form of advertising etc.

I say a big loud NO to that – you should take back your sexuality, whatever it is, and accept and enjoy it as a personal expression of who you are.
